Following a hearty breakfast, we embark on a journey from Kigali, traversing the picturesque landscapes to arrive at Ruhengeri, situated at the entrance of Parc National des Volcans. En route, we are treated to a mesmerizing spectacle of natural beauty, passing through the meticulously cultivated terraced hills of Kigezi and Rwanda. As the day unfolds, we immerse ourselves in the enchanting scenery that unfolds before us, truly capturing the essence of this remarkable region. Later, we indulge in a delightful dinner and settle in for a restful overnight stay, cherishing the memories created amidst the splendor of our surroundings.
Following an early morning breakfast at the lodge, enter Volcanoes National Park (Parc National des Volcans,) to search for the endangered mountain gorillas in their natural habitat.Mountain gorilla trekking is a demanding but rewarding experience. The trekking experience starts with a briefing about at the visitors center. After the briefing, you’ll be put in small groups of about 8 members each and then allocated to different gorilla families. Following the lesd of your ranger guide, grab your trekking stick and start your adventure. Trek through the forest searching for these humble primates. After locating them, you’ll be allowed to view them for one full hour. After your allocated time elapses, trek back to the visitors center. Ensure you bring with you enough water and a packed lunch. The time spent in the forest depends on the movements of the primates in their natural environment.
After breakfast, leave Ruhengeri and proceed to Gisenyi, a pretty town located on the shores of beautiful Lake Kivu, the main water body of Rwanda. Relax on the beach. Dinner and overnight
After breakfast, transfer to Nyungwe Forest National Park along Lake Kivu. Stopover in Kibuye for lunch. Arrive in Nyungwe National Park in time for dinner and overnight.
After an early breakfast, you enter the Nyungwe forest for trekking in search of the numerous troops of Colobus monkeys and/or tracking the chimpanzee. Nyungwe is a vast, uncontaminated tropical rainforest over 1000 sq. km in size and you will be amazed by such intense, green mountain vegetation. Ensure you carry with you a packed lunch and water for a picnic lunch. Return for dinner and overnight.
After breakfast, you will drive to Kigali, the capital city of Rwanda. Stopover in Gikongoro for a tour of the Genocide Memorial of Murambi. Lunch in Butare, where it is possible to find the best Rwandan, original handicraft, which you cannot find in other countries of Africa. Butare hosts the biggest university and the national cultural museum, worthy to visit. Stopover in Nyanza for a tour of the royal palace of the traditional king of Rwanda, the Mwami. Arrive in Kigali for dinner and overnight.
After breakfast, depart for Akagera National Park located along the Tanzanian border of Rwanda. You reach in time for the evening game drive. This park is famous for its herds of game animals including Burchell’s Zebra, lions, elephants, topi, giraffes, impalas, and over 425 species of birds including the shoe billed stock, African jacana, sacred ibis’ goliath heron. Dinner and overnight.
Early morning game drives along with the trials of Akagera. As an optional activity, you can board the boat for exploring the water of Lake Ihema to see a large number of hippo, the huge Nile crocodile, and birds. In the afternoon drive back to Kigali for dinner and overnight.
